Second of five little personal projects about the characters of Zerocalcare, an Italian comic book author. This is the Armadillo, the cynical and lazy conscience of the main character. It’s been challenging to interpret this 2d character because some of his main features don’t fit in a 3d world. For example, he’s drawn with both eyes on the same side of the head. So I tried to make him tridimensional but keeking him recognizable and faithful to the original.

I sculpted a rough basemodel in ZBrush, retopology in Topogun, then I finished the model in Cinema 4d. Again Zbrush for the displacement of his shell and 3d Coat for hand painting. Rendering in Arnold for c4d.
